Linwood School

Overview       Enrollment Requirements       Curriculum       Dress Code

School uniforms are mandatory at Gospel of Grace Christian School. The uniforms must be from an official school uniform line.

Boys’ attire will be navy blue or khaki pants with white or navy blue shirts. The shirts may be dress or polo shirts. Polo shirts must be 3-button with collar only. Belts must be worn around the waist and are to be brown or black with no dangling ends. Shirts must be buttoned up and dress shirts with tails must be tucked in (this applies to boys and girls). All clothing must fit properly and pants must be worn at the waistline. Socks and shoes must be worn at all times. No necklaces are allowed on boys. Boys should have no extreme hairstyles or unnatural hair colors.

Girls’ attire consists of skirt, jumper, or pants in navy blue or khaki color. Blouse or polo shirt must be white or navy blue. Pants cannot be Spandex or stretch of any type. Pants must have a waistband and may not be hip-huggers. Skirts and jumpers must be at least knee-length. All clothing must fit properly.

Not all uniform styles are considered appropriate attire according to our dress code. The school administration will determine what is to be considered an appropraite school uniform.

No student may dress in a manner that exposes parts of the body not normally seen, such as the midsection, cleavage, etc. Tops must cover the skirt/pants top even when the girl is reaching up. Clothing should not be formfitting or see-through.

Girls should have no extreme hairstyles or unnatural hair colors. Shoes must be worn at all times by all students. No hats, scarves, or hair coverings of any kind are permitted in class.

Elementary students may wear uniform shorts in navy blue or khaki color in the months of August, September, May, and June. Shorts must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. No oversized clothing will be permitted. Fleeces or sweaters in navy blue or white will be permitted with the proper shirt underneath. No slogans or writings should be on clothing. Small inconspicuous manufacturers’ trademarks on over-garments are acceptable.

Excessive jewelry is not permitted. It is acceptable for girls to wear a single stud in each ear in the lobe only. Hoops or dangling earrings are not allowed. No other piercings are allowed, nor are tattoos permitted. Nail polish and makeup may NOT be worn.
Gym clothes may be worn at Physical Education or sports activities times. Specific uniforms may be required for basketball, baseball, or other sports. See the coach for details.

For safety, no jewelry is permitted during Physical Education or sports activities.

The dress code will be strictly enforced. When a student is found to be in violation of the dress code, he/she will be isolated for the remainder of the day, but will still complete class assignments. This is the procedure for the first three offenses. On the fourth offense, the student will be isolated for the remainder of the day, will serve detention, and (at the discretion of the teacher and principal) may serve one day’s suspension at home.

Personal hygiene is an important factor in any interactive group of people, as one person’s condition might affect many. Any student with a contagious condition should be kept at home and the condition reported to the school administration (any such information will be kept confidential, if at all possible).

If a faculty member discovers a contagious condition on a student, the student with such a condition will be sent home at the discretion of the administration. The school administration has the right to determine what is to be considered a contagious condition.

Students must bathe regularly. Clothing and overall appearance should be neat and clean. Continual failure to maintain personal hygiene may result in suspension or even expulsion, since lack of hygiene may deter others from enrolling in our school.
